feren OS 2017.0 “Murdock” is now available after being in development for the past several months, it’s based on the latest Linux Mint 18.1 “Serena” operating system, which in turn is derived from Canonical’s Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) OS, and uses the Cinnamon 3.2 desktop environment by default. The biggest new feature of the feren OS 2017.0 “Murdock” release is the implementation of feren Welcome, the project’s in-house built welcome screen that lets newcomers more easily get started with the GNU/Linux distribution once they managed to install it on their personal computers.
