Powered by Linux kernel 4.4.24 LTS, the Release Candidate of openSUSE Leap 42.2 comes two weeks after the third and last Beta development snapshot to add even more bug fixes and improvements to the GNU/Linux distribution, which is based on the source code from its bigger brother, SUSE Linux Enterprise (SLE) Service Pack (SP) 2. New things included in openSUSE Leap 42.2 RC1 are the addition of OpenStack client software, along with other useful software stacks for sysadmins and devs, the KDE Plasma 5.8.1 LTS desktop environment, which is coming soon to openSUSE Tumbleweed users too, the LightDM 1.19.5 display manager, and an updated GNOME Stack to version 3.20.2.
