The latest Ubuntu Touch update from UBports, OTA-3, was released last year near the Christmas holidays, so it’s been a while since Ubuntu Phone users received some system updates. But if you though Ubuntu Phones are dead, thing again, because the UBports team has been hard at work to bring you the OTA-4, which will be the first to rebase the operating system on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. Apart from being rebuild from the ground up based on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus), the upcoming Ubuntu Touch OTA-4 software update not only runs twice as fast as previous versions on any Ubuntu Phone, but it also adds some exciting new features like a more simplified Phone app and support for installing Ubuntu Touch on the GSM version of the Nexus 7 2013 tablet.
