Earlier this week, numerous users who updated the Google Chrome web browser in their Android devices to the latest Chrome 79 release, which landed last week for all supported platforms, reported data loss issues with several apps after installing the update. It would appear that the data loss issue was caused by a bug in the WebView component, which is being used by many Android apps, but according to Google, the data was not lost, but only hidden, and it will be made visible in apps once users will update Chrome for Android to the latest release.
