GStreamer 1.1.1 is the first in a series of many testing release, which will lead to the 1.2.x stable branch of the open source and cross-platform multimedia framework. Compared to the actual stable release, version 1.0.7, GStreamer 1.1.1 uses a new API and ABI with lots of powerful features, such as GstContext negotiation, sharing and announcing, or the EGL helper library. GStreamer 1.1.1 also includes new plugins, such as mssdemux for Microsoft Smooth Streaming, dashdemux for the DASH adaptive streaming protocol, bluez for interaction with Bluetooth devices, and openjpeg for JPEG2000 encoding and decoding.
