I’m lost. It seems like I’ve tried every distro and I hit a roadblock no matter where I turn

I’ve recently fallen in love with Linux and I’ve been trying to convert my household computers over. My main goal is to create a central computer at my house that handles central file storage, control music for the house and to control the TV. I also remote into this computer to do my main programming and CAD work. The stereo and TV are directly connected to this computer. So far, on the application side of things, I’ve found great programs like nomachine and samba to do most of the bulk work and and run bash scripts in the background to do the rest.

I use OpenSUSE with KDE at work and I really like it. When I tried it at home I found it to be really hard to configure and I couldn’t stand YAST.
