InfoWorld: Oracle unveils $100 million venture fund

Oracle has announced… “that it has established a $100 million
venture capital fund that will be used to invest in companies that
are developing Internet products and services based on the Oracle8i
platform.”

“The fund will source, execute, and manage equity investments
both in start-up companies and established corporations that are
looking to develop new products or re-architecture offerings based
on Oracle technology, Oracle said.

“Investments are expected to range between $2 million to $5
million, typically, but could go higher depending on the individual
opportunity and the existing investors, the company said.”

Oracle 8i is being readied for release on Linux.
