April Fools’ joke about a product called a Winboard.”

“Now the whole thing was meant to be a joke. And unlike other
years, I even identified it as an April Fools’ column in the bio at
the bottom. (Previous April Fools’ columns sparked hundreds of
letters from people who took the topic seriously.) But is this such
an outrageous idea? Given free rein to do what it wants, I’m not
sure what would prevent Microsoft from executing a similar plan —
one without some of the obvious drawbacks to my foolish
example.”
