Kickstarter Project: RapidDisk LX 2.0, an updated and more feature rich x86_64 port

RapidDisk LX is a custom and minimal Linux distribution intended to provide RapidDisk (advanced Linux RAM disk modules) functionality as target block devices over iSCSI. Now on Kickstarter: RapidDisk 2.0, an x86_64 port: http://kck.st/Q8ZwVI

I had been wanting to port RapidDisk LX to an x86_64 architecture for quite some time. The biggest reason being that all of you can actually use it on your own PCs without the need of obtaining a specific ARM based device. Another reason, to capture some accurate and up-to-date benchmarks on the higher performing hardware.

But in order to successfully port the Linux OS and make it more available for you, the user, I need to have an appropriate computing system to test everything on. That is why I decided to make an attempt at raising funding for a server PC (as this is a server type of OS serving RapidDisk & RapidCache enabled volumes over iSCSI) on Kickstarter. You can find a link to the Kickstarter page here: http://kck.st/Q8ZwVI . I am not looking for much. I am hoping to get $2500. So if you wish to support the project and ensure that it gets appropriately ported to a more common and generic architecture please view the Kickstarter project page below. For those who are not familiar with Kickstarter, you can read all about it here: http://www.kickstarter.com/help/faq/kickstarter basics

Kickstarter works with the concept of rewards. Each funding level provides different rewards. At the time of release, I hope to have an image with an installer that can boot from USB and install the OS onto your hardware.

RapidDisk LX 2.0 will also provide additional features such as drive management (power management included), logical volume management (includes RAID), read/write snapshot support, and more.
