Using newer graphics drivers or desktop software from the Debian GNU/Linux 8 “Jessie”, Debian GNU/Linux 9 “Stretch” (Testing) and Debian Sid (Unstable), KNOPPIX 7.7.1 is powered by the Linux 4.7.9 kernel, which is fully patched against the “Dirty COW” bug and injected with some extra patches, including TCP Stealth, BFQ, Cloop, and AUFS. Both 64- and 32-bit kernel versions are included in KNOPPIX 7.7.1. If we’re taking a quick look inside the KNOPPIX 7.7.1 Live DVD, we can notice that most of the pre-installed software packages are at their latest versions. There’s an up-to-date graphics stack based on X.Org 7.7 and X.Org Server 1.18.1, an experimental 3D window manager powered by Compiz 0.9.12.2, as well as Wine 1.9.20 if you want to run various Windows apps and games.
