“Bringing Linux to Latin America.”

Norm Jacobowitz writes:

“In a previous Linux Review column (“Libre Contra Gratis”), I
pointed out how the Spanish-speaking nations of the Western
Hemisphere were ripe territory for Linux to expand its user base. I
also called for a major distribution to do a ground-up version of
their product in Spanish, rather than a simple translation of an
existing product.

“Well, unbeknownst to me, Conectiva had just done exactly that!
This is indeed great news for Linux, for Latin America and for
Conectiva. Sandro Henrique was kind enough to answer a few e-mailed
questions about Linux in Latin America and about Conectiva. (Some
of his answers have been edited for clarity and brevity.)”
