Linux Foundation’s LinuxLTSI group has announced that the next LTS (Long Term Support) version of the Linux kernel will be 4.1. The information has also been confirmed by Greg Kroah-Hartman, a renown kernel developer that is currently maintaining several kernel branches, including a few LTS ones. As such, when Linux kernel 4.1 will be released, it will become the LTS version of 2015 and the most advanced long-term support release.
