Maya is the first release of the Linux Mint operating system to be distributed as two separate editions, one with the Cinnamon desktop environment (GNOME 3 fork) and the other one with the MATE desktop environment (GNOME 2 fork). Linux Mint 13 is a LTS (Long Term Support) distribution, supported with patches and security updates for 5 years, until April 2017.
