With Linux Mint 19 “Tara” out the door earlier this month, the Linux Mint team now concentrate all of their efforts on the Linux Mint Debian Edition 3 “Cindy” distribution, which is based on the latest stable Debian GNU/Linux operating system instead of Ubuntu like the main Linux Mint OS, and a beta release is now ready for public testing with the Cinnamon desktop environment. Highlights of the Linux Mint Debian Edition 3 “Cindy” Cinnamon Beta release include all the latest security and software updates from the Debian GNU/Linux 9 “Stretch” repositories as of July 31, 2018, the latest Cinnamon 3.8 desktop environment, as well as all the updated in-house built tools that are also available in the Linux Mint 19 “Tara” operating system.
