We’ve received a number of e-mails asking good questions
about the Lander1 contest. Here are the answers.

Are non-US residents eligible? Yes, absolutely. But note that
prizes will be shipped form the US, so the winners are responsible
for the cost of import duties, tariffs, customs fees, etc. to
receive the package(s). We’ll pay the shipping fee, of course, but
beyond that it’s your responsibility.

May your setBurnRate() function use the constants defined in
lander.h? Yes. A strict reading of the rules could lead you to
think this was not allowed, which was unintentional. Your function
may use the constants as well as the ship’s status structure as
input to making its decision.

May your setburnrate.c file use math.h functions? This was not
allowed initially, since we didn’t think anyone would want to use
it. But we received several requests for it, so we’ve decided to
update the rules to explicitly allow this exception. We have
updated the makefile to add the “-lm” linker option.

Thanks to all who wrote and asked about these issues. The
contest materials will be updated shortly to reflect these changes
and clarifications.
