Flash: Hot new
Commercial applications now available at MandrakeClub.

18 new commercial applications have recently been added to the
MandrakeClub Download section, including a complete version of
Fax2Send — full-featured Fax software for Linux. Beacon is
offering the personal edition of this software package free to

On July 29, 2003, the KDE Project announced the availability of

Business Case of the Week


Education/Research:
All servers in Sabanci University Computer Club.

The Computer Club at Sabanci University, Turkey, uses Mandrake
for their 8 servers. ‘huseyin’ explains:

“In one server there are 9 hard disks, raid, total of 960 gb,
running proftp. Another one is used for web server having more than
30 virtual address and 5000 hits per day running advx, it also
streams the Radio Club broadcast. Two machines are used to capture
the tv signal, ( one encoder one streamer) stream and multicast TV
channels to the local network. Another one is a game server running
counter strike , and psychostats where it logs the displays the
game statistics from web. One little machine is running Mandrake
MultiNetworkFirewall, it limits the overall access. Other servers
are used for daily use, network file server(Samba), database server
(oracle, postgresql, mysql), cvs server and programming.”

  • eroaster — fixes temporary file vulnerability
  • unzip — fixes vulnerability
