MATE 1.10 represents more than a year of work on the GNOME 2-like desktop environment for GNU/Linux distributions, and today marks the final and official release of the lightweight, traditional desktop interface, which means that distribution vendors can start updating their MATE packages to version 1.10 and make it available to their users. Arch Linux users are among the first to get the new MATE version.
