“In an unprecedented move, Mindcraft has proposed an Open
Benchmark, to which they will allow members of the Linux and
Microsoft communities. This is a golden opportunity for the Open
Source movement. Not because we will show the world that Linux is
better than NT, but because we will get a real-world assessment of
the work that we still have to do. Now before you send that flame,
I have no doubt that Linux will fair well. There will be areas
where Linux will rule, but there will also be areas where Linux
will lag. I can guarantee this, within one month of seeing these
benchmark results, Linux will ‘correct’ and smash NT on the next
pass.”
