Usually, when the first point release of a major stable Mesa 3D Graphics Library series is out, it means that the respective branch is finally available for mass adoption. In this case, today’s Mesa 17.3.1 minor maintenance update ensures the stability or Mesa 17.3 stable series, so users can now safely upgrade to it if they want. In Mesa 17.3.1, we see improvements for the Radeon RADV Vulkan driver so that it won’t advertise the VK_EXT_debug_report Vulkan extension because isn’t yet supported, multiple improvements to the GLSL shader cache, and various smaller fixes for the Intel i965, RadeonSI, Freedreno, and Nouveau (nvc0) graphics drivers.
