Network Computing: The Fat of the LAN [Intel LANDesk Review]

“LANDesk rounded out a strong feature set by being the only
management package we tested to offer more than DOS or Windows
agents. We were impressed by LANDesk’s initial Linux support,
which offers remote control and inventory in a Unix-friendly way.
However, we questioned why Linux administrators would use remote
control rather than telnet.
Nevertheless, we appreciated the
inventory functions, the standard “man” manual pages and easy
setup. Intel probably needs to automate the Linux setup a bit more,
but we found the agents to be well done, and rate them as a good
first step.”
