I am going to be starting at Amazon soon as an SDE, but the more I read about what it’s like to work there, the more I’m afraid of what I’m getting myself into. Does anyone have any firsthand experience there, especially as a full-time employee? What was it like? Are the horror stories true? How bad was the on-call rotation?
As an aside, I’m curious what IDEs and other technology people use there (mainly wondering about Java development). What laptops do developers get?
