America Online is mounting a new two-pronged attack on
Microsoft Corp.’s dominance of the Web-browser market, unveiling a
new model of its own and a family of compatible devices.

“AOL Chairman Steve Case on Wednesday unveiled Netscape 6 and a
trio of appliances to be built and sold by San Diego, Calif.-based
Gateway Inc….”

“Netscape 6 is faster and far more flexible than other Internet
browsers, Case said in a speech at the Internet World 2000
conference. It is compatible with a range of computer operating
systems, including Linux, Unix and Macintosh.”
