For this first Alpha release of the upcoming OpenMandriva Lx 2014.0 Linux distribution, the development team upgraded the Linux kernel to version 3.11.8 with support for SQUASHFS_MULTI_DECOMPRESSOR, which uses all available CPUs while booting from the ISO image, and provides reliable and working UEFI support. Also, the KDE desktop environment has been updated to KDE SC 4.12.1 with all its goodies and more stock apps (including Plasma Media Center) for true KDE fans. Surprisingly or not the look and feel of the distribution has not yet been changed, but the team promises revamped artwork on the Beta release of OpenMandriva Lx 2014.0.
