Plex Media Server 0.9.8.6 is an important release, as it finally makes the media index files available for all users, not just PlexPass members. Also, transcoder support has been added to the Plex Chrome app. Among the bugs squashed in this release, we can mention another “Recently Viewed Shows” issue, a few field-reported crashes, loading iTunes XML file won’t eat so much memory, correct MIME types are now used for AAC files, storage issues with media items on details endpoints. Moreover, the application is now able to scan with database optimizations much faster than before, the view settings are now stored per-account, and remuxing H.264 from WTV files got a lot faster.
