Reed Media Services recently published the second edition of the definitive BIND DNS Administration Reference book covering name server operations and DNS configuration using BIND. The book helps DNS administrators take advantage of the latest DNS features.

The book provides the definitive documentation covering the 325-plus configuration tunables for BIND “named” including adding and modifying zone configurations remotely, automated DNSSEC signing and trust anchor management, geographical-based responses, response rate limiting to limit denial of service (DoS) attacks, better resolver responses by keeping the cache up-to-date for popular queries, DNS rebinding attack prevention, and more. It also covers installation from source and packages, and over 30 BIND administration and diagnostic tools, including the new DNS lookup and DNSSEC validation utility, “delv.”

Since the book’s first edition, BIND has introduced over 70 new features which are explained in this revised edition. For more information about the 280-page BIND DNS Administration Reference, visit http://reedmedia.net/books/bind-dns/ . The book is available at various book stores including Amazon and Barnes and Noble. (ISBN 978-1-937516-03-1.)
