“Movies, music industries try to keep pirated copies from
spinning out of control.”

“The head of the Motion Picture Association of America sees a
new gang of digital outlaws a-ridin’ in, bent on pillaging his town
— Hollywood. He doesn’t want to allow the same kind of rampant
digital piracy that he says has beset the record industry.”

““If we have to file a thousand lawsuits a day, we’ll do it,”
said a defiant Valenti. “It’s less expensive than losing control
of all your creative works.””

“Indeed, the MPAA and other industry groups have filed several
lawsuits in the past month trying to stop a variety of Web site
operators from spreading the tools that entertainment companies
fear open the door to widespread digital piracy of movies and
music.”
