SJ Mercury/Reuters: DVD industry group sues over copying program

“The wholesale copying and distribution of copyrighted motion
pictures destroys the motion picture industry’s ability to protect
its intellectual property and destroys the market for the computer
and consumer electronics industries’ DVD-based products,” the
lawsuit said….”

“There’s a lot of issues that go into something like this, like
freedom of speech and all that, but those freedoms are limited when
you know what you are doing is wrong and you’re hurting people,”
said Ronald Coolley, an independent intellectual property attorney
with law firm Arnold White & Durkee in Chicago….”

“They have to make a statement,” said Claude Stern, an
intellectual property attorney with Fenwick & West. “All
those companies that have major amounts of content can’t afford to
have some moron hacker post something because he thinks it’s
cool.
