“IBM unveiled a whopper of an alliance today that it has inked
with both Ariba and i2. Under the terms of the deal, IBM has taken
an equity stake in both companies and will push Ariba and i2
technology through IBM Global Services. In return, Ariba and i2
will integrate their products with IBM’s WebSphere, its DB2
database and MQSeries, and will Linux-enable the whole
package.”

“IBM Global Services will supply support services, systems
integration and hosting services for Ariba and i2. The computer
giant also will be the preferred provider of the solution to
customers.”

“Ariba, meanwhile, will acquire IBM procurement technology and
integrate it into with its B2B e-commerce platform, says Bill
Etherington, senior VP and group executive for IBM sales and
distribution. I2, meanwhile, will pony up its TradeMatrix solution
to the mix, and all three will go to market together via dedicated
sales teams around the globe.”
