Dubbed Utopic Unicorn, the Ubuntu 14.10 operating system was announced by Canonical back on October 23, 2014 and was supported with software update, bugfixes, and security patches for nine months. On July 23, 2015, the 9-month month support cycle officially ended and the software channels are now closed. Users are being urged by Canonical to upgrade to Ubuntu 15.04 (Vivid Vervet) today.
