If you’ve been following the Ubuntu GNOME developments over the last couple of days, you’ve likely had a lot of questions about how to try it. Well, the Powerbase was the first publication to try and answer that question with this guide; but you no longer need it. As of about an hour ago, the first nightly image of Ubuntu 13.04 was released here.

So, what’s the big deal with Ubuntu GNOME 13.04? Fir starters, this is the express lane to getting your hands on Gnome 3.8 (3.7.90). Also, this is the first edition of Ubuntu Gnome to adopt a couple of non Gnome exclusive applications. Namely, the default web browser is now Mozilla Firefox. And for your document editing needs, Gnome Documents is now perfectly complimented with Libre Office 4.0.1.

Though if you have an extra 40 minutes of life to waste and you are still interested in setting up Gnome 3.8 in Ubuntu 13.04 the Quaker way, please have a look at our straight-forward guide (no longer necessary). Ubuntu 13.04 is slated for official release on April 25th. Even with Ubuntu GNOME’s late arrival to the Raring Ringtail release posse, one would expect them to make official release on April 25th as well.
