Unicode 8.0 has been officially released on June 17, 2015 and comes with a total of 7,716 new characters and six new scripts, including 41 new emoji characters, 5,771 new ideographs for the Japanese, Chinese, and Korean languages, a new Georgian lari currency symbol, 86 lowercase Cherokee syllables, as well as Arwi support. It will be implemented in Fedora 23 Linux this fall.
