The first patchlevel release of Univention Corporate Server 4 (UCS 4.0-1), which was released on Feb 10, 2015, makes the setup of UCS-based cloud instances even more easy. Cloud setup information from cloud service providers is now directly transmitted to UCS. Thus, cloud service providers can provide their customers with a pre-configured and ready-to-start UCS-based cloud installation. Since UCS 4.0, UCS can also manage OpenStack- and Amazon EC2-based cloud environments.

Another highlight of UCS 4.0-1 is a simplified join to an Active Directory domain via the integrated tool “Active Directory Connection” which is a powerful tool for the extension of an existing Windows server environment with additional Enterprise applications, which UCS users can install via the integrated App Center. For example, groupware solutions such as OX App Suite or Zarafa installed from this Univention App Center can thus be managed via Microsoft Active Directory including all existing user identities.

UCS 4.0-1 also includes, amongst others:
– Integration of the Debian “Wheezy” 7.8
– Free for personal use license for up to 50 users and clients
– Simplified UCS system setup

UCS can be easily tested at any time.
