for Windows,” confirms one Microsoft executive.”

source code for Windows — whether on its own or compelled by the
Justice Department — it will be due in part to the dogged efforts
of a cyber-guru named Eric S. Raymond.”

“Microsoft executives have been studying carefully what happened
to Netscape after it made that move a year ago by releasing its
browser code. They find the results discouraging.”
