“Progressive Systems, Inc., a leading provider of network
security solutions, today announced that in the first 24 hours of
its recently announced Linux firewall giveaway, over 1200 copies of
the personal-use version of the Phoenix Adaptive Firewall were
downloaded. (Editor’s Note: For more information on giveaway,
please see press release, “Progressive Systems Announces Free
Giveaway of Linux Firewall,” dated December 13, 1999) The fully
featured firewall will support two users and is not time-limited.
Phoenix is the first Linux firewall to be certified by the
International Computer Security Association (ICSA).”

“Over twelve hundred people have downloaded our software and are
experiencing the power and ease-of-use of our Linux firewall,” said
Alexander Hutton, director of marketing at Progressive Systems.
“That level of response shows the incredible demand for
commercial-grade security products for the Linux platform, and the
Phoenix’s ability to fill that need.”

The personal edition of the software contains the same
feature set found in the commercial Phoenix firewall. The two-user
support allows it to secure desktops, home networks, or low traffic
servers.
