“Red Hat, Caldera and SGI have announced that they will
integrate Tripwire into their Linux-based solutions. The aim of
the integration is to provide Linux applications with greater
security and make Linux a more robust OS for e-business.”

“Tripwire is a product that monitors variances in file integrity
to ensure system security. It reportedly determines if a protected
file has been altered in a way that violates the policy set by the
administrator. It also discovers if files have been added to or
deleted from protected directories.”

“In the event that someone has hacked into the system, Tripwire
should have a full report of when it happened and what files were
altered or erased.”
