“The European Union (EU) is expected to announce plans to mirror
the recent “opening up” of encryption export regulations amongst IT
security companies in the US.”

“One of the first firms to gain a license was eSoft, which is
now busy exporting its 168-bit technology on a general basis
outside North America for the first time.”

“Earlier this month, eSoft announced it had started shipping
168-bit encryption versions of its Linux-based firewall and virtual
private network (VPNP) systems.
International customers were
previously limited to encryption based on 56 bit key.”
