“Congress appears eager to propose new or broader computer
crime laws amid dramatic attacks on some of the Internet’s flagship
sites, but the technology industry is reluctant about broader
government involvement even in online security.”

“The industry’s sentiments — reflecting its traditional
reticence against inviting government into its affairs — were
expected to be delivered to Congress at a hearing today.”

“The technology industry showed that it can respond swiftly and
effectively, taking steps to quickly beat back the attacks to make
it harder for similar assaults to succeed in the future” Charles
Giancarlo, a senior vice president for Cisco Systems Inc., said in
prepared testimony.”
