“Three leading suppliers of Linuxsystems — Caldera, Red Hat,
and SGI — said they will integrate Tripwire’s intrusion detection
and prevention software into their offerings.”

“Tripwire detects intruders or unauthorized changes made to a
system’s key files and directories. It then notifies users when
intrusions occur on important systems.”

“Developed at Purdue University eight years ago, the software
was made commercially available last year for Sun Solaris, IBM AIX,
HP-UX, SGI’s Irix, Compaq’s Tru64 Unix, and Windows NT.”

“The alliances with the three Linux vendors will help drive
security further into the operating system.”
