The Salt Lake Tribune: Embattled SCO Group’s Web Site Hit with a ‘Denial of Service’ Strike

[Editor’s Note: as of 1400 GMT this morning, the SCO site
was apparently down again, possibly as a result of another denial
of service attack.
Netcraft
is reporting that after being up for a few business
hours yesterday, the site was evidently brought
down once more
. As of 1645 GMT this morning, the site was back
up. -BKP]

Utah’s SCO Group, already embroiled in federal court litigation
over rights to the freely-distributed Linux operating system, now
finds itself targeted by cyberspace guerillas.

“SCO spokesman Blake Stowell said the latest attack–similar to
a less-effective DoS attempt lasting just hours in May–had been
referred to the FBI for investigation. Calls seeking confirmation
had not been returned by FBI spokesman George Dougherty by late
Monday.

“From late Friday night until around noon Monday, ‘no one
outside of SCO itself could access our Web site,’ Stowell said,
adding that the company was trying to find the perpetrator…”
