“Network vendor Novell stepped out of the server operating
system ring last week and left Microsoft’s Windows 2000 fighting
versions of Unix and Linux.”

“After years of defending its Netware OS against the vapourware
Microsoft planned in the next version of NT, Novell has refocused
its resources on a new battleground just as its rival opens its
product to the public.”

“Novell’s shifted direction focuses primarily on its Novell
Directory Services (NDS), now called e-Directory, and outlines
plans to make NDS the basis for advanced ebusiness applications. It
also includes scaleable business platforms that address security
and power for all types of networks, across all environments,
including Netware, Windows NT, Solaris, Unix and Linux.”
