“LiveVault Corporation… today extends its offerings to
customers running Linux and Solaris servers. The LiveVault Online
Backup and Recovery Service ensures that a company’s critical
business data is automatically backed up, electronically vaulted
and protected off-site, and immediately available for guaranteed
recovery 24x7x365 in the event of a disaster, virus attack, human
error or other data-loss event.

“Major corporations devote significant IT resources to backing
up computers in their data centers, and moving tapes off-site for
disaster protection has proven an effective solution. However, for
servers outside of major data centers-such as enterprise remote or
branch offices, or mid-sized businesses-in-house tape backups have
been an error-prone answer. Analysts estimate that nearly 50
percent of in-house, tape-based backups for these ‘distributed
servers’ fail to fully recover, making business continuity an
impossibility.

“For servers that reside outside of ‘Class A’ data centers,
LiveVault’s service eliminates the human error and costs inherent
in tape-based backup and enables instant ‘anytime, anywhere’ data
recovery so companies can always be open for business. LiveVault
automatically and continuously backs up business server data via a
secure Internet connection and stores it in an off-site Iron
Mountain facility, where it is available for immediate recovery in
the event of a system failure, virus, human error or other
disaster. IT professionals who rely on LiveVault to protect their
data are able to focus on the pressing issues facing their
businesses, instead of spending time on tedious data backup and
recovery chores…”
