“Cambex…a leading designer and supplier of Fibre Channel
hardware and software solutions for building Storage Area Networks,
today announced Linux support for its FibreQuik(TM) PC1000
PCI-to-Fibre Channel host bus adapters. Users running Linux on
Intel-based computer servers can use the PC1000 to connect via
Fibre Channel to a Storage Area Network (SAN).
A SAN delivers
the increased performance, scalability, availability, and data
management capabilities necessary to effectively utilize the ever
increasing amounts of storage being generated by e-commerce and
other Internet applications.”

“Linux, an open source-based operating system, is rapidly
gaining market share and now comprises an estimated 17% of server
operating system shipments according to International Data
Corporation. Linux has made especially strong inroads in the
Internet community. A survey conducted by the Internet Operating
System Counter found that Linux has become the most popular
operating system for Internet applications with approximately 31%
of Internet servers using Linux as their operating system.”
