“Tandberg Data Inc. Wednesday announced an addition to its
DLTtape(a) Product Group with the addition of the Tandberg DLT(a)
8000 tape drive.

Shipments from Tandberg will start September 1, closely
following the first shipments from Quantum Corp.

“The Tandberg DLT 8000 tape drive offers up to 80GB capacity
compressed and transfer rates up to 43.2GB/hour (12MB/sec)
compressed… This addition to Tandberg Data’s DLTtape product
offerings represents a 15 percent increase in capacity and 20
percent increase in performance over current DLTtape drives. The
new DLT 8000 provides improved reliability and lower cost of
ownership, along with exceptionally high mean-time-between failure
and head life figures.”

“Tandberg DLT 8000 is ideal for midrange computers, network
servers, high-end workstations and mainframe environments running
NetWare… UNIX…, Windows NT… Linux… or proprietary operating
systems, and is highly suitable for applications in NAS (Network
Attached Storage) and SAN (Storage Area Network) environments.”
