“As part of its on-demand computing initiative, IBM has
introduced a slew of new products designed to manage and utilize
application and storage resources more efficiently.

“The tools respond to changing enterprise-computing needs by
streamlining IT infrastructures and dynamically linking business
processes with the allocation of IT resources, IBM says…

“The IBM announcement is really about utility computing–a
subject that has engendered much discussion by Hewlett-Packard, IBM
and Computer Associates, though none of those companies has rolled
out any such products yet, according to Yankee senior analyst
Carrie Lewis. ‘With this announcement, they’re starting to at least
productize the offerings so end users understand [utility
computing] better,’ she told NewsFactor…”
