ZDNN: Biometric player seeks Linux support

“BionNetrix is beefing up its fingerprint ID security system
and plans to add Linux and Solaris support next year.”

“The latest version of BioNetrix’s Enterprise System for
Biometric Security, Which Incorporates support for Entrust as well
as the Documentum document management systems, made a splash at The
Internet Security Conference (TISC) in Boston this week.”

“The software is meant to provide a common platform that extends
policy-based authentication beyond passwords into emerging
biometric arenas like fingerprint ID, voiceprints, and eyeball
scanning.”

“BioNetrix intends to follow up version 3.0, which starts
shipping this week, with v3.5 by the end of the first quarter, said
David Steinberg, VP of sales and business development. The 3.5
edition will come in flavors for Windows, as well as Linux and Sun
Solaris. BioNetrix will also start supporting Oracle, in addition
to the already supported Microsoft SQL Server, for internal
database storage.”
