Not only is GNOME 1.2 available right now in source and binary
formats, but a new GNOME.org site is also online.
From the GNOME crew:
“This new release represents a dramatic step forward in the
usability, attractiveness, and stability of the GNOME desktop.
Since the release of October GNOME, the pace of development of new
features and bugfixes in the GNOME project has more than doubled,
and it would be impossible to name them all here.”
“GNOME is the GNU Network Object Model Environment. The
GNOME project intends to build a complete, easy-to-use desktop
environment for the user, and a powerful application framework for
the software developer.“
Many new packages were released. You can get all the relevant
links and the changes
history at AppWatch.com.
Changes from the recent 1.1.90 beta release are also available for
the individual packages (libs, games, core, applets, etc).
