CRN: Group pledges to put Java on Linux — Grassroots Effort By Blackdown Team Forges Ahead

“The team has released Java Developers Kit (JDK) ports to Linux
before, but Sun Microsystems Inc., Palo Alto, recently licensed
several of its Java Media technologies to the group. The agreement
covers Java 2 SDK, formerly known as JDK 1.2 and core to the Java
platform, as well as application programming interfaces (APIs) for
Java 3-D, Java Media Framework, Java Advanced Imaging and Java
Sound.”

“‘This time, Sun is recognizing an enthusiastic group of folks
on Linux and wants to make sure those people have an opportunity to
get Java ported to Linux,’ Connell said.”
