“Raleigh-based LastFoot.com and Austin-based TreLOS are merging
in a share-for-share stock trade of undisclosed value…
LastFoot.com, founded last year, provides software and network
desktop services. … TreLOS offers a Win4Lin software package that
lets Linux operating systems run common Windows 95 and 98 and
Office 2000 applications.”

“Jim Curtin, chief executive of 13-employee TreLOS, told
dbusiness.com the program runs the Windows applications as fast as
if they were running on Microsoft operating systems. “Linux growth
has been held back by a lack of applications to run on the open
source system,” Curtin said. “This is the answer.””

“He noted that companies that want to move to Linux but have
been held back by reluctance to desert their Windows applications
can now make the transition. Linux is considered more reliable and
less prone to crashes than Windows operating systems. Linux is
widely used as the operating system on Internet servers.”
