“The effort to port Linux to Intel Corp.’s IA-64 platform got
its first public showing at LinuxWorld here last week, as members
of Trillian, the mini-consortium charged with making Linux work

Corp.’s keynote speech. Senior vice president Sean Maloney, aided
by chairman Andy Grove, offered just a glimpse of the Linux screen
and announced that the IA-64 Linux code would be made publicly
available in the first quarter of 2000.”

“…Trillian members are optimistic they will have Linux
available for the earliest runs of Merced machines.”
