should come as no surprise that Linux has reared its head on the

“Now, almost every major manufacturer of desktops, servers and
notebooks serving the federal market is shipping Linux pre-loaded
on their systems. Name a company and chances are it is
manufacturing a system or porting an application to Linux.”

“In addition, just about all of the World Wide Web, application
and database server packages that support Linux are available on
the market today. It would be difficult, if not negligent, for
the government not to consider seriously the benefits of using
Linux. After all, it wouldn’t be a bad place to start a Web-enabled
government.
